Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to help build responsible, scalable AI systems across the enterprise. You will design and deploy foundation models, multi-model pipelines, and governance practices, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver impactful AI-powered banking experiences.

The role spans hands-on development and architectural leadership, with opportunities across Cambridge, MA and other sites, and includes performance-based incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE with 4–6+ years of AI/ML experience.
• 6+ years coding in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA or Java as stated.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, PyTorch.
• Optimize foundation model performance, latency, cost, throughput at scale.
• Lead cost-performance governance and design review boards for AI systems.
• Mentor engineers and help raise technical maturity across teams.
