Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to help build responsible and scalable AI systems for banking applications. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with Capital One.

You will design and deploy AI software components, optimize foundation models, and contribute to the long-term AI systems roadmap, while mentoring senior engineers to raise technical maturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and multi-agent workflows
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch
• Invent state-of-the-art foundation model optimization techniques for performance and cost
• Contribute to technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
• Design, implement and optimize multi-model orchestration pipelines
• Establish and lead cost-performance governance reviews
• Lead design councils/reviews for technical consistency and AI standards
• Mentor Principal and Manager-level AI engineers
