Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to join its Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team in Cambridge, MA. You will design and optimize AI software, including foundation models and multi‑model orchestration, working with Open Source and SaaS AI tools to deliver scalable, responsible AI across banking products.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to the long term AI system roadmap, and drive cost-performance governance while ensuring high reliability and governance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field with several years of AI/ML algorithm development experience.
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
• Invent and introduce foundation model optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, latency, and throughput.
