Job summary

JPMorganChase in Plano, TX and Houston, TX seeks a Lead Software Engineer - AI to drive advanced software and AI-enabled engineering initiatives within Corporate Sector Technology. You will contribute across Java/J2EE and Spring Boot microservices, cloud/hybrid environments, and scalable architectures.

You will lead a team to implement secure, observable, low-latency services, integrate enterprise systems, and advance ML pipelines for fraud detection and risk assessment while mentoring engineers

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience in Java/J2EE and Spring Boot microservices.
• 3+ years Linux experience.
• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools with validation for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
• Strong REST APIs and microservices architecture expertise.
• Strong Kubernetes orchestration experience (building, deploying, and operating production services).
• Messaging experience with Kafka, MQ, or similar platforms.
• Experience with backend infrastructure patterns and observability tools like ELK or Splunk.
• AI/ML platform exposure (MLOps, feature engineering, model hosting/operationalization; AWS and/or hybrid on-prem + cloud).

Responsibilities

• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools and AI-assisted development to improve automation value.
• Architect and implement resilient, scalable, low-latency services and drive target-state architecture.
• Design and deploy services that integrate with enterprise systems with governance, security, and auditability.
• Lead and mentor the development team in a high-pressured delivery environment.
• Collaborate with LOB users, SMEs, architects, DBAs, and admins to design solutions and resolve issues.
• Build and mature ML pipelines for fraud detection and risk assessment; support modeling teams.
• Production Alize models readiness and quality controls prior to live usage.
• Design and own reusable ML platform components with monitoring and alerting.
• Build agentic AI services to automate engineering and model-ops workflows.
• Define guardrails and evaluation approaches for agentic AI in production.
