Job summary

Humana Inc is seeking an Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer to own decision intelligence across the NBA platform. You will design production-grade decision systems, oversee agentic workflows, and guide a small team of engineers while collaborating with business, product, and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on Python AI engineering, LangGraph/LangChain expertise, and integrating enterprise AI platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 6+ years of software eng, ML eng, AI eng, or decision intelligence experience, incl. 1–2 years in tech leadership.
• Strong Python engineering experience building and operating production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience building agentic applications using LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.
• Experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, Anthropic, OpenAI, or comparable platforms.
• Strong understanding of Decision Intelligence concepts: decision modeling, optimization, automation, objectives, constraints, outcomes.
• Experience implementing LLM patterns: tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, memory management, workflow orchestration.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks for AI systems: automated eval, human review, performance, experimentation.
• Ability to map business processes into formal decision frameworks and communicate to stakeholders.
• Leadership experience of a small engineering team while hands-on.
• Strong communication to explain AI/decision architectures to senior leadership.

• Versioned APIs for high-performance runtime consumption.
• Ensure services are highly available and horizontally scalable.
• Apply API design, schema evolution, and secure integration best practices.
• Design resilient database schemas supporting action catalogs and versioning.
• Auditability and traceability for compliance and governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
