Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Principal Engineer, AI Authoring in Boston, hybrid/onsite. Lead the architecture for AI-driven content generation, focusing on modular LLM integration, prompt engineering, and retrieval pipelines to support compliant regulatory documents. Drive RAG-based systems and scalable cloud workloads.

You will prototype AI features, ensure rigorous testing and validation, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality, regulated outputs.

Qualifications

• Experience building AI-driven platforms with LLMs and RAG architectures.
• Expertise in prompt engineering and retrieval pipelines.
• Strong background in structured and unstructured data integration.
• Experience with automated testing/validation in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architecture for AI-assisted document generation with modular LLM integration.
• Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems pulling from clinical/regulatory data sources.
• Engineer data connectors/transformations for feeding data into AI models.
• Develop automated testing/validation to meet compliance standards in Life Sciences.
• Prototype new AI features to assess viability before full-scale dev.
