Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer who will help build responsible, scalable AI systems and platforms for real-time, personalized banking experiences. You will lead cross‑functional teams, design and deploy foundation models, and drive architectural decisions across data, compute and model lifecycles.

The role emphasizes mentorship of senior technical leaders, governance standards, and collaboration with policy and risk teams, with remote eligibility and competitive compensation.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with extensive AI/ML experience.
• Master's degree plus 8+ years of AI/ML development experience is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver AI-powered products with cross‑functional teams of engineers, researchers, program managers, and product managers.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, latency, and cost of large-scale AI systems.
• Contribute to the long-term vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Define and steer AI architecture with production-grade reliability and scale.
• Lead establishment of AI safety, transparency, and governance standards across the company.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence cross-functional stakeholders up to SVP level.
