Job summary

Poway Unified School District seeks an energetic Lead Middle School After School Education & Safety Assistant to assist in coordinating ASES activities and supervising aides. The role involves planning, materials prep, and maintaining records in the middle school setting.

You will help create a positive learning environment, ensure student safety, and support budget and attendance tasks while collaborating with district staff and parents.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 units in early childhood development or related field and one year experience in a preschool, child care, or middle school program.
• Passage of the PUSD examination for this classification or 48 college/university semester units or equivalent quarter units.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ASES Supervisor in daily activities; organize and prepare a positive learning environment; prepare materials and supplies; lead and supervise students in activities in a classroom, library, computer lab, and/or outdoor environment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students; develop positive student behavior with incentives and reinforcements.
• Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of regular and student aides; contact substitutes; establish and maintain employee records for personnel and payroll.
• Prepare registration packets; maintain files and records including student enrollment; calculate and forward monthly attendance reports to District ASES attendance coordinator.
• Administer first aid and follow necessary emergency procedures; verify medication authorization; monitor medical conditions; identify and report safety hazards on site.
• Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures; assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, duplicating, recording attendance and laminating materials.
• Assist with budget planning including purchasing and receiving supplies; maintain inventory control of food, supplies and equipment.
• Communicate with current and prospective parents and various organizations to explain the ASES program; coordinate program activities with District personnel as needed; contact guest speakers; organize field trips; provide tours for visitors.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
