Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent
• Minimum 12–15 years of relevant technical experience in Mechanical Engineering, with 7+ years in production rotating electrical machines or aerospace packaging
• Experience developing requirements specification for mechanical subsystems per MIL-STD 961D (or equivalent)
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools: SolidWorks, ANSYS, ANSYS Icepack
• Extensive experience with SolidWorks and designing electrical rotating machines
• Experience with thermal management tradeoffs, materials properties, and bonding techniques for extreme environments
• Experience with BOM creation/maintenance and product documentation

Responsibilities

• Leads or supports thermal, structural, dynamic, and fluid analysis for electronics equipment
• Leads testing and data collection in lab and field
• Models mechanical devices and selects materials
• Performs stress, fatigue, and thermal analyses; selects bonding materials
• Develops mechanical drawings and specifies tolerances
• Develops and implements assembly instructions and test procedures
• Develops test plans to verify designs
• Exercise independent judgment on new or special assignments; may supervise others
• Other duties as assigned
