Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to advance mechanical design and electronics packaging for high altitude aerospace applications.

The role focuses on analyzing, testing, and refining mechanical subsystems and assemblies for robust operation in harsh environments. You will lead or support multidisciplinary packaging projects, manage subcontractors, and contribute to manufacturing readiness and BOM documentation while ensuring compliance with MIL-STD-961D and related

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in mechanical engineering with production experience.
• 5 years in developing production rotors and packaging for industrial/aerospace.
• Proficient with MIL-STD 961D or equivalent.
• SolidWorks proficiency for mechanical modeling; ANSYS for analysis.
• Experience with bonding techniques for extreme environments.
• Experience with BOM and product documentation.

Responsibilities

• Leads or supports thermal, structural, dynamic, and fluid analyses for electronics equipment.
• Leads testing and data collection in lab and field.
• Models mechanical devices and selects materials.
• Performs stress and fatigue analyses.
• Performs thermal analysis and bonding material selection.
• Develops mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Creates assembly instructions and test procedures.
• Develops test plans to verify designs.
• Guides team assignments and coordinates resources.
