Job summary

We Are Sharing Hope SC in Charleston, SC is seeking a Transplant Recovery Surgeon to lead abdominal organ recovery for transplant, research and therapy. You will oversee the surgical recovery process, ensure respectful handling of gifts, and collaborate with local and regional transplant centers to uphold recovery standards.

The role emphasizes policy development, staff training in surgical first assist skills, participation in quality improvement, and ongoing credentialing within the ACIN

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree with SC licensure
• Board certified or eligible in surgery
• ASTS transplant fellowship preferred
• At least 2 years of organ procurement experience
• Valid SC driver’s license
• Strong decision-making and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary procurement surgeon for abdominal organs.
• Ensure high-quality organ recovery for transplant, research, and therapy.
• Respond to scheduled donor recovery promptly.
• Coordinate intraoperative communications and resolve surgical issues.
• Train and develop staff in organ recovery techniques.
• Represent SHSC in meetings and maintain MAC involvement.
