Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester at the Union Street Clubhouse in Manchester seeks a Grade 4-5 Director to oversee after-school programming for 4th–5th graders, plan engaging activities, supervise staff, and maintain a safe, supportive environment.

You will administer behavior management, collaborate with the Unit Director on scheduling, recruit and train part-time staff, manage the program budget, and communicate progress with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in youth programming, after-school programs, recreation, or summer camps.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must pass criminal background and drug screenings.
• CDL-B license with passenger endorsement (training provided).
• Must obtain active personal auto insurance with liability coverage.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to manage program expenses and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of an age-appropriate program for 4th–5th grade members; provide direct service.
• Track program outcomes: academic progress, school attendance, grade advancement, and participation in physical activities.
• Foster a positive youth development environment and recognize member efforts.
• Administer the member behavior management system and coordinate with Behavioral & Family Services for support.
• Collaborate with the Unit Director to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff.
• Develop staff schedules and ensure performance expectations.
• Assist with preparing and managing the program budget, monitoring expenditures per guidelines.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized program areas and report maintenance concerns.
• Promote programs via schedules, announcements, and marketing materials.
• Manage administrative functions: recordkeeping and participation statistics.
• Meet with parents to address concerns and provide progress updates.
• Perform supervisory responsibilities per policies including safety and conflict resolution.
• Be a positive role model inspiring members to reach potential.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
