The Clinical Medical Drug Monitoring LCMS Technologist Trainee receives on-the-job training for the analytical data analysis of extracted patient samples in the Clinical ToxAssure Laboratory. This laboratory handles high daily volumes and is fast-paced, performing high-complexity testing for pain management in urine samples. The test includes 180+ analytes in one assay, and technologists are responsible for the instrumentation and data analysis of four separate ancillary LCMS/MS confirmation methods outside of this panel. This bench uses 40+ LC-MS/MS instrument platforms utilizing Ascent, a cloud-based processing platform.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Sunday/Monday/Thursday/Friday 7:00am - 5:30pm

Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs
Key Responsibilities:

The following duties reflect key responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate LC-MS/MS instrumentation utilizing the cloud-based platform, Ascent.
  • Receive extracted specimens for testing; evaluate batches and test orders; prioritize work to maintain acceptable turnaround times.
  • Perform large amounts of electronic data analysis on computer stations outside of the laboratory.
  • Recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens within batches or sets of Hamilton Deck Mates and handle appropriately.
  • Adhere to SOPs while performing data analysis on patient and proficiency samples, calibration, quality control, and blank samples.
  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors and unusual results; interpret results to produce a final report.
  • Follow quality control procedures; monitor controls and calibration; take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation and work areas; perform routine maintenance and checks; troubleshoot instrument issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all tests and equipment.
  • Proactively monitor assay and instrument performance to prevent downtime and delays.
  • Prepare and evaluate laboratory reagents, standards, and quality controls according to SOPs.
  • Use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in all documentation.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care efficiently.
  • Participate in training and instruct others, demonstrating or explaining testing processes.
