The role supports Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, and Public Health initiatives, working with unit safety professionals to implement, update, and improve the safety management system.

Ideal candidates are full-time students pursuing relevant degrees, have completed 30 semester hours, maintain a 3.0+ GPA, hold a valid driver's

• Full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Preparedness, or Public Health.
• Must have completed 30 semester hours in the topics above.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above

Responsibilities

• Assist in field surveys/audits of business unit operations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of processes for tracking and analyzing HSE data to expand trending and reporting capabilities.
• Develop HSE posters, moments, flashes, and other training materials.
• Assist in improvement initiatives around contractor HSE incident management and ISNetworld utilization.
• Provide support for facility HSE Committee(s)/Team(s).
• Participate in HSE Management Systems reviews or self-assessments.
• Perform special projects as requested.

Job Summary

A Safety Intern may be assigned to Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, Employee Health, and Contractor Safety. A Safety Intern actively works with the Business Unit safety and health professionals along with operations in their designated operating areas to implement, update, and improve the safety management system.

Position available Spring, Summer or Fall 2027

  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
