CITGO Petroleum Corporation in Corpus Christi, TX offers a paid 11-week Engineering Intern summer program. The intern will learn refinery processes, support engineering packages, research tasks, and help maintain engineering records.

Candidates must be enrolled in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, with 30+ completed hours, GPA 3.0+, able to work 40 hours/week, and eligible for a TWIC. Remote work options may be available for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Environmental or Chemical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program.
• Full-time Engineering student with at least 30 hours completed (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) or enrolled (at least part-time) in a graduate level program.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Available to work forty hours per week.
• Must have current valid driver's license.
• TWIC Eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Monitor process information for regulatory compliance.
• Assist in gathering data for reports submitted to agencies.
• Collaborate with Automation and Instrumentation to resolve tag and CEM issues.
• Assist in coordinating cooling tower compliance monitoring and testing.

Job Summary

The Engineering intern will become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safe work practices. The Engineering Intern will assist with technical services, support the development of engineering packages, conduct basic research, and update engineering records and databases. This position is a paid 11-week summer internship. A presentation covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments will be expected at the end of the term.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an Environmentalor ChemicalEngineering Bachelor’s Degree program
• Full-time Engineering student with at least 30 hours completed (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) or enrolled (at least part-time) in a graduate level program.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Available to work forty hours (40) per week
• Must have current valid driver’s license
• Candidate must possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential(TWIC) Eligibility

Job Duties

1. Monitor process information for compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Assist in gathering and analyzing datafor report submittal to agencies.
3. Work with Automation and Instrumentation Group to resolve issues with process tags and continuous emission monitoring systems.
4. Assist in coordinating cooling tower compliance monitoring and performance testing for equipment by working with operations and contractors.
5. Work closely with Environmental Engineers/EnvironmentalAdvisors and other business units.
