Job summary

Ryan Lawn & Tree is seeking a Turf Trainee to be both a skilled technician and trusted advisor for homeowners. You’ll diagnose lawn issues, prescribe care plans, and deliver the full service package across your route.

Responsibilities include managing 400–500 customers, executing fertilization, aeration, seeding, and service calls, and building trust through excellent customer service while learning turfgrass practices and available Ryan services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in horticulture, landscaping, customer service, or a related field preferred.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, turfgrass, or agricultural sciences is a plus.
• Valid driver's license; ability to obtain DOT certification, pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide applicator license (turfgrass) within 3 months.
• A curious, problem-solving mindset and a genuine love for the outdoors.

Requirements

What You Bring

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to walk, stand, and push/pull equipment for extended periods, including up to 3 miles per day in the field
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round
• SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of vehicles and equipment. All candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen (including marijuana), criminal background check, MVR check, and DOT physical (where applicable) before starting employment. Candidates must meet all screening requirements as a condition of employment.
