Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. in Ohio seeks Ohio-licensed attorneys to teach Business Law, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Law at partner correctional institutions. This part-time adjunct role covers day, evening, and weekend courses at correctional facilities in Pickaway, Madison, Ross, Southeastern, and Southern Ohio.

Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour taught. To qualify, applicants must reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky or be able to work within one of these states.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Ohio State Bar license required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a DRC background check required
  • Must be able to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Position Summary

The Law and Public Safety Department is seeking Ohio licensedattorneys in good standing to teaching Business Law, ConstitutionalLaw, and Criminal Law at our partner correctional institutions.Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for day,evening, and weekend courses at our partner correctionalinstitutions:

  • Pickaway Correctional – Columbus (Orient), Ohio
  • Madison Correctional – London, Ohio
  • Ross Correctional – Chillicothe, Ohio
  • Southeastern Correctional – Lancaster, Ohio
  • Southern Ohio Correctional – Lucasville, Ohio

This position is open only to applicants who residein Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform workwithin one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, andbenefits compliance requirements.
