Position Summary
The Sinclair Criminal Justice Sciences Department prepares students formeaningful careers in law enforcement, corrections, and other areasof the criminal justice system. Our programs equip futureprofessionals with the knowledge and skills needed for immediateemployment, while also offering current criminal justicepractitioners opportunities for career advancement and professionaldevelopment.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.
Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for day, evening, and weekend courses at our partner correctional institutions:
- Dayton Correctional – Dayton, Ohio
- Lebanon Correctional – Lebanon, Ohio
- Warren Correctional – Lebanon, Ohio
- Correctional Reception Center – Columbus, Ohio
- Pickaway Correctional – Columbus (Orient), Ohio
- Ross Correctional – Chillicothe, Ohio
- Madison Correctional – London, Ohio

Principal Accountabilities
- Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
- Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assignedsections in accordance with department and divisional policies
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
- Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in criminal justice or law required
- Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse collegecommunity
- Possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction required
- Ability to pass a DRC background check required
- Must be able to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting
