Job summary

Lydecker LLP, a nationwide insurance defense litigation firm, seeks a Controller to oversee all financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. CPA preferred, with responsibility for GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, trust accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

You will lead accounting staff, develop forecasts, supervise audits, and collaborate with partners to optimize billing and collections while guiding strategic financial planning.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing accounting teams.
• Experience within a law firm, professional services firm, or legal industry preferred.
• Knowledge of law firm accounting systems, billing platforms, and trust accounting requirements.
• CPA designation strongly preferred; MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all accounting operations including GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, and cash management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Monitor profitability, attorney productivity, realization rates, and KPIs.
• Develop forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting; supervise billing and collections.
