How to Manage a Small Law Firm is seeking a Fractional Controller to guide solo law firm owners in understanding their numbers, improving profitability, and making smarter financial decisions. You will advise a roster of 40 clients as part of a Fractional Executive Team of CEOs, COOs, CFOs, and Controllers.

The role focuses on leading monthly strategy calls, analyzing profitability and cash flow, and turning data into actionable recommendations; remote, full-time, with some evening availability

This is a remote position, but we can only hire candidates who reside in AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, LA, MD, MI, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, or WV.

• Lead monthly 1:1 financial strategy calls with clients
• Analyze financial statements, KPIs, profitability, and cash flow
• Build and interpret financial dashboards
• Prepare short-term cash flow forecasts and identify risks
• Turn financial data into clear, actionable recommendations
• Coach clients toward stronger financial habits and accountability

What We're Looking For

• Controller or senior-level accounting/finance experience
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, KPI, and dashboard experience
• Proven results improving profitability, cash flow, or expenses
• Experience managing teams or client relationships
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financials simply
• Small business or entrepreneurial experience strongly preferred
• Professional services or law firm experience is a plus

The Details

Remote | Full-TimeSome evening availability and travel required.

Compensation

$110,000 to $145,000 total annual compensation, including base pay, roster-based earnings, additional projects, and projected bonuses.
