Job summary
CGS Federal is seeking a Law Clerk I to support a federal agency with litigation support, legal research, and cite checking. The role requires a JD or current ABA-accredited law student status with at least one year of study.
You will assist attorneys across all phases of litigation, draft documents, and review decisions. Candidate should have strong knowledge of federal and state courts, experience with Westlaw and Lexis, and familiarity with Relativity; ability to perform under pressure is
Qualifications
- Requires Juris Doctor (JD) or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school.
- Needs sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources.
- Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Extensive experience with cite checking and blue book.
- Experience performing complex legal research.
- Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
- Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
- Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and blue book.
- Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
- Reviews new cases and conducts research of pertinent laws.
- Reviews AMICUS briefs and briefs attorneys on legal issues.
