Job summary

CGS Federal in Arlington, VA seeks a Law Clerk I to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. You will perform litigation support, cite checking, document review, and legal research under supervision.

Ideal candidate has a JD or is an ABA law student with strong knowledge of federal and state courts and proficiency in Westlaw, Lexis, and Bluebook. This full-time role offers growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Requires JD or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
Requires knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
Extensive experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Experience with cite checking and blue book.

Responsibilities

Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
Reviews and conducts research for ROI (Release of Information).
Reviews new cases and conducts research of pertinent laws.
Edits finalized decisions and writes/researches legal opinions on recent cases.
Edits and reviews cases for issuance.
Responds to citizen letters.
Reviews AMICUS briefs.
Briefs attorneys regarding legal issues and statements of facts.
Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Cite checking via Westlaw and Lexis and blue book.
