Job description

Job Overview:

To ensure the proper sorting and distribution of laundry to meet high standards of quality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Empty the laundry chute and prepare loads for the washer.
2. Pre-sort and separate linen by classification and transfer by lifting, carrying, or transporting to workstations.
3. Operate folding equipment to fold mats, blankets, towels, bedspreads, etc., including running the ironer.
4. Separate laundry requiring mending or special stain removal.
5. Assist the washer by pushing carts from the washing to the drying area.
6. Provide assistance, instruction, and guidance to guests and employees for safety in fire or other emergency situations.
7. Perform other duties as assigned, such as assisting room attendants or housepersons when requested.

Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various industrial equipment.
• Ability to extend arms, scrub, bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull heavy loads, with the capability to lift bundles (linen) weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Basic understanding of English to comprehend safety labels and instructions.
• Ability to understand and follow directions and perform job functions under limited supervision.
