Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical technology, mechanical engineering technology, industrial technology, manufacturing technology, electro‑optic technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience providing advanced hands‑on technical support for complex mechanical systems, optical or electro‑optic assemblies, and research equipment.
• Develop and refine potting processes, fixtures, tooling, work instructions, and handling controls for delicate optics and optical components.
• Experience with metrology principles, GD&T, and complex survey support.

Responsibilities

• Develop original solutions to complex technical problems and establish priorities to meet programmatic requirements.
• Provide advanced technical support for design, assembly, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and documentation of experimental equipment.
• Develop and refine potting processes, fixtures, tooling, and handling controls for delicate optics.
• Lead maintenance scheduling and execution to ensure operational readiness.
• Provide metrology support including 3D coordinate systems and analysis against design models.
• Design, evaluation, fabrication, testing, and documentation of complex mechanical systems and support equipment.
• Coordinate technical work across divisions to support shared potting needs and process capability.
• Participate in design reviews and document decisions and actions.
• Provide guidance to technologists and perform other duties as assigned.
• Secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
