Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, seeks an Engineering Technical Associate for the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations Division. You will apply advanced technical expertise to support precision potting, optical assembly, and prototype hardware for delicate optics and mechanical systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on work, development of potting processes and fixtures, metrology, survey support, and coordination across programs to ensure readiness and reliable

Qualifications

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Experience providing advanced hands-on technical support for complex mechanical systems and optical/electro-optic assemblies.
• Significant experience handling delicate optics and precision cleaned components in controlled environments.
• Advanced knowledge in precision assembly techniques, mechanical troubleshooting, testing operations, and maintenance.
• Experience participating in engineering testing operations and documenting results.

Responsibilities

• Precision assembly of hardware and facility systems.
• Develop and refine potting fixtures, work instructions, and process controls.
• Own potting process readiness and related facility operations and maintenance.
• Component-level metrology, complex survey support, and detailed documentation of experimental equipment.
• Provide advanced technical support for design, assembly, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and metrology.
• Lead and participate in design reviews and cross‑organizational coordination.
