Job summary

Oho Group is seeking a Laser Engineering Safety Specialist to own laser safety by design across complex laser and optical systems.

You’ll work across the full beam path, influencing containment, interlocks, beam routing and stray-light detection, collaborating with laser scientists and engineers to make hardware safe by design. This role requires hands-on experience with Class 3B/4 lasers and a strong background in laser/optical engineering.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Class 3B and/or Class 4 laser systems.
• Experience engineering laser safety into real hardware, including containment and interlocks.
• Background in laser engineering, optical engineering, photonics, physics, electrical engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with ANSI Z136 or IEC 60825 standards.
• Experience with laser power measurement, beam characterization, or stray-light assessment.
• Ability to work with complex hardware in R&D or prototype environments.

Responsibilities

• Own laser safety by design across complex laser and optical systems.
• Design safety into systems from architecture stage and throughout beam path.
• Develop containment, interlocks, beam routing and stray-light detection strategies.
• Collaborate with laser scientists and engineers to ensure hardware safety.
