Job summary

Hypertherm Associates is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a US-based engineering team focused on Laser technology and cutting applications. You will guide technical direction, mentor engineers, and coordinate with cross-functional partners to drive product performance and IP development.

You will influence roadmaps and prioritize engineering work based on market needs and OEM technology directions, while ensuring design, cost, reliability and schedule targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 10+ years of technical and/or people-leadership experience.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to provide technical direction on complex product and technology-development work.
• Proven experience leading and developing engineers or technical teams.
• Experience leading cross-functional product or technology development.
• Experience mentoring engineers on complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineers through associate selection, coaching, development, performance management and recognition.
• Build team and individual capability through mentoring, training and clear technical ownership.
• Lead research and development work supporting new technologies, intellectual property and product performance.
• Provide technical direction for product and technology development.
• Contribute to product and technology roadmaps through knowledge of the market, applications and technology.
• Lead cross-functional product-development teams across Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Marketing, Operations, Quality and other support functions.
• Ensure new products meet design, reliability, quality, cost, budget and schedule requirements.
• Define and implement engineering standards and product-development processes.
• Understand customer needs and use relevant feedback to improve products, services and processes.
• Build and sustain relationships across Hypertherm to align engineering priorities and execution.
