Job summary
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to join our large animal hospital team. You will provide high-quality nursing care for Internal Medicine, General Diagnostics, Surgery, and Sports Medicine patients under clinicians and supervising technicians.
You will train and mentor students, assist with routine admissions and discharges, manage treatment areas, and help maintain clinical protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED required.
- Large Animal Handling Skills required.
- 3 years VT-I experience or AVMA-certified tech or AVMA-accredited degree with 1 year VT-I.
- Tech skills: IV catheter, dosing, fluids, CPR assistance.
- Computer proficiency and EMR experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Veterinary Technician in good standing.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality nursing care for Internal Medicine, General Diagnostics, Surgery, and Sports Medicine patients.
- Assist with daily patient management, admissions and discharges; guide students on rotation.
- Observe patients, administer medications, procedures, and follow protocols.
- Restock and clean treatment areas; maintain biosecurity.
- Teach veterinary students and mentor new technicians.
- Support on-call and holiday scheduling as required.
