Job summary
The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for the Large Animal Hospital in Grafton, MA. You will provide nursing care and support for internal medicine, diagnostics, surgery, and sports medicine, while teaching rotating students.
You'll work a 35-hour week with a fixed 4-day schedule, on-call shifts, and shift differentials. Prior large animal experience and EMR proficiency are preferred. Health benefits and holiday premium pay apply.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of related veterinary experience.
- Large animal handling and equine skills required.
- Computer proficiency/EMR experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for Internal Medicine, Diagnostics, Surgery, and Sports Medicine patients as directed by clinicians/residents.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and routine/emergency procedures.
- Restock, clean treatment areas and maintain biosecurity protocols.
- Mentor students and support teaching activities.
