Job summary

Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University seeks a Veterinary Technician II to provide high-quality nursing care for large animal patients, including horses, alpacas, goats and pigs. You’ll collaborate with clinicians, residents and students to deliver care in a teaching hospital.

The role involves performing catheterizations, venipuncture, restraint techniques, and monitoring patients under anesthesia or sedation; training students and supporting emergency admissions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience and/or formal training in veterinary technology or animal care.
• Familiarity with emergency/critical care protocols is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care and treatment to Internal Medicine, General Diagnostics and Surgery Service patients.
• Assist daily patient management, admissions and discharges, and support clinicians and students.
• Administer treatments, perform catheterizations, venipuncture, and ensure animal comfort and safety.
• Restock, clean, and maintain treatment areas and equipment; follow biosafety protocols.
• Mentor veterinary students and technician trainees; participate in on-call rotations.
