Job description

As the Golf Landscaper/Greenskeeper at Washington National Golf Club, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent, assistant superintendent, or foreman, you will perform routine manual labor related to golf course maintenance. This includes semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work, operating small hand-powered equipment, and occasionally handling larger machinery such as tractors, fairway units, triplex mowers, and walking mowers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate equipment safely and properly, including string trimmers, edgers, and backpack blowers.
2. Maintain bunkers, ball washers, and fuel and fluid levels of equipment required for job duties, along with related supplies.
3. Return all equipment to the designated location in the maintenance facility.
4. Promptly report any equipment issues.
5. Assist in project work such as construction of greens, tees, and fairways, preparing soil bases, laying sod, and seeding tees, greens, and fairways.
6. Safely operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
7. Maintain effective communication with guests and team members.
8. Greet guests within 15 feet with a sincere welcome and assist as needed; thank guests and invite them to return at the end of their visit.
9. Always yield to guests.
10. Follow all safety rules and wear appropriate safety equipment, including helmets, ear protection, and non-skid shoes, to ensure a safe work environment.
11. Complete job duties efficiently to maintain a well-groomed golf course.
12. Maintain a clean environment by picking up trash and eliminating clutter.
13. Dress in uniform at the start of each shift.
14. Follow verbal and written directions reliably and responsibly.
15. Focus on the job with ownership of quality performance.
16. Work weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings as needed.
17. Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The characteristics of the work environment include physical activities such as lifting, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, and arm-hand coordination. You should be able to lift approximately 50 pounds occasionally. The environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, weather conditions, and occasionally to high places, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
