Job summary

Westinghouse WECTEC Staffing Services is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to care for designated outdoor areas on site at the Catawba nuclear facility. The role includes operating mowers, trimmers, edgers, and applying pesticides while complying with safety procedures and site rules.

You will report on site to the site coordinator and work a 40-hour week, with potential overtime during outages and on-call coverage as needed. A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

About the Role

Maintain designated grounds and outdoor areas on site using hand tools, trimmers, edgers, weed-eaters, electric tools, gas powered tools, and equipment. You will mow areas using zero turn mowers and riding lawn mowers, operate leaf blowers, apply pesticides and fertilizers, re-seed, de-ice roads, walkways, and entrances to buildings, and clear damaged trees.

You will report on site at Catawba nuclear site. You will report to the site coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Capable of lifting 50 lbs. (heavy lifting required from time to time).
• Must have a valid State-issued Driver's License and meet minimum education requirements (High School Diploma or equivalent).
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Training requirements for unescorted access to the nuclear facility, including Radiation Worker Training (RWT).
• Proactively support Westinghouse and Duke Energy programs, policies, procedures, strategic plans, and specific goals.
• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Understand and follow oral and written communications, technical requirements, procedures, and directives at a nuclear power plant.
• Commitment to personal safety and industrial safety.
• Be assertive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Will pass a drug test.
• Will pass a security background check.

Work Schedule

You will work a 40-hour work week, typically Monday to Thursday with 10-hour days during online periods. You will support on-call as needed and potentially increased hours including overtime during outage periods.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive pay and benefits. The base salary range for this position is estimated to be $19/hour to $20/hour, depending on experience, qualifications and skills. Benefits may include:
