Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Madison, PA, is seeking a Technician II to support non-destructive examinations in nuclear and non-nuclear environments. You will conduct inspections, interpret results, and document findings to support continuous improvement.

You will report to the Manager of Reactor & BOP Inspection Resources/Timing and travel up to 60% of the time. When not traveling, you will be onsite at the Waltz Mill facility five days per week, performing tasks safely and according to

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience as a technician.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing non-destructive inspections of nuclear and non-nuclear power plants according to approved procedures and codes.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Code.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%. Travel spring/fall with 1-3 week trips.
  • Extensive travel, unescorted access status, hazardous materials handling.
  • Potential long on-site assignments with 12-hour shifts, 6-7 days per week.
  • Physical requirements: lift 50-60 lbs, climb ladders, work in industrial and radiological environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct non-destructive examinations according to written procedures.
  • Evaluate and document results following applicable standards and specifications.
  • Investigate and interpret industry standards, codes, and procedures.
  • Help develop new techniques and inspection procedures to refine processes.
  • Participate in performance-based training to maintain certifications.
  • Participate in safety training for hazardous environments.
  • Operate field service equipment at customer sites, including NDE technology, robotics, and networks.
  • Document all quality related issues.

About the role:

As a Technician II you will support non-destructive examinations in both nuclear and non-nuclear environments. You will conduct inspections, interpret and document results, and evaluate findings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

You will report to the Manager of Reactor & BOP Inspection Resources/Timing and be located at our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. This role requires extensive travel (60% of time). When not on travel, you will be expected onsite 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct non-destructive examinations according to written procedures.
  • Evaluate and document the results of the examinations following applicable standards and specifications.
  • Investigate and interpret different industry standards, codes, and procedures throughout the nuclear and non-nuclear fields.
  • Help develop new techniques and inspection procedures and review existing techniques to refine processes to support the nuclear and non-nuclear industries.
  • Participate in performance-based training programs to acquire and maintain certifications and keep with current technology.
  • Participate in safety training to acquire the skills needed to perform work in hazardous environments and operate safety equipment and systems.
  • Operate field service equipment at customer sites, including non-destructive examination (NDE) technology, robotic systems and computer networks.
  • Perform all assigned tasks with support to a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines.
  • Document all quality related issues.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience as a technician.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing non-destructive inspections of nuclear and non-nuclear power plants according to approved procedures and codes.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Code.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%. Ability to travel during the spring and fall with multiple 1-3 weeks work trips.
  • Extensive travel, maintenance of "Unescorted Access" status, and working with hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel during the spring and fall for potentially months at a time on jobs
    • 12 hour schedule on nights or days when on site assignments
    • 6-7 days per week on site assignment
  • This is a physical position, which requires the ability to
    • Lift 50-60 lbs
    • Ascend and descend ladders
    • Work in an industrial environment when on assignment
    • Work in a radiological environment

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $55,238.36 to $83,978.83 per year.
