Job summary

Environmental Resources Group in McLean, Virginia is seeking an experienced Landscape Supervisor / Crew Leader to guide daily grounds maintenance at a secure government facility. This hands-on leadership role requires strong landscaping knowledge and the ability to keep a crew organized and productive.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, roughly 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with extended hours during snow and severe weather.

Qualifications

  • Professional landscaping or grounds maintenance experience required.
  • Prior crew leader or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices and equipment.
  • Ability to lead a crew while actively performing fieldwork.
  • Excellent attendance, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and work with a landscape crew during daily site operations.
  • Assign tasks, priorities, and monitor productivity and workmanship.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and general cleanup.
  • Safely operate and oversee use of landscape tools and equipment.
  • Inspect work and address quality concerns before leaving.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and report repairs.
  • Follow site safety, security, and access procedures.
  • Participate in snow and ice removal, including extended shifts.

Landscape Supervisor / Crew Leader

Since 1989, Environmental Resources Group (ERG) has provided dependable landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and environmental services throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Based in Burtonsville, Maryland, and serving commercial and government properties across Northern Virginia and the surrounding region, ERG is known for experienced teams, quality service, and year-round reliability.

ERG is seeking an experienced Landscape Supervisor / Crew Leader to guide daily grounds maintenance operations at a secure government facility in Langley, Virginia. You will work alongside the crew while assigning tasks, monitoring quality and productivity, reinforcing safe work practices, and ensuring the site remains clean, attractive, and professionally maintained. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong landscaping knowledge, dependable judgment, and the ability to keep a crew organized and moving efficiently.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with extended hours required during snow and severe-weather events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside a landscape maintenance crew during daily site operations.
  • Assign tasks, communicate priorities, and monitor crew productivity and workmanship.
  • Perform and oversee mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weeding, mulching, planting, leaf removal, and general property cleanup.
  • Safely operate and oversee the use of commercial landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Inspect completed work and correct quality concerns before leaving each work area.
  • Help maintain equipment, report repair needs, and ensure tools and materials are used responsibly.
  • Follow all site-specific safety, security, and access procedures.
  • Communicate staffing, equipment, material, and site concerns to management.
  • Participate in snow and ice removal operations, including long or irregular shifts that may continue until the site is fully cleared.
Qualifications
  • Previous professional landscaping or grounds maintenance experience required.
  • Prior crew leader, foreman, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to direct a crew while remaining actively involved in fieldwork.
  • Strong attendance, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout the shift.
  • Availability for the regular early‑morning schedule and extended snow‑removal assignments.
  • Must satisfy all government‑facility eligibility, identity, background‑screening, and access requirements applicable to this assignment. The current contract requires U.S. citizenship, including naturalized citizenship.
Pay and Benefits
  • Full-Time.W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation.
  • Paid holidays
  • Five paid sick days.
  • Snow removal pay is always paid at Overtime rates, regardless of hours worked during that week
  • Consistent Monday-Friday schedule, approximately 5:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., weather permitting
  • Additional hours may be available during snow and severe-weather events.
  • Health insurance is not currently offered; ERG is working toward adding health benefits as the company grows.
