Job summary

Farmscape is seeking a hands-on Garden/Landscape Lead to oversee teams maintaining edible and ornamental landscapes across Oakland and the Bay Area. You will plan daily work, assign tasks, and ensure high-quality results from planting to harvest.

Applicants should have 4+ years in farming or landscape work, strong irrigation and pest-management know-how, and a driver’s license. The role requires hands-on leadership and a commitment to safe, clean work sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work with the team to maintain gardens and landscapes across the Bay Area.
• Plant, prune, weed, water, harvest, and care for plants, soil, and fruit trees.
• Troubleshoot common pest and plant health issues in the field.
• Program irrigation timers and provide irrigation troubleshooting.

Job Description

• Lead and work with the team to maintain, gardens, and landscapes throughout the Bay Area
• Plant, prune, weed, water, harvest, and care for plants, soil, and fruit trees
• Find and fix common pest and plant issues
• Program various irrigation timers and provide irrigation troubleshooting
• Implement seasonal planting, crop rotation, and harvests
• Plan daily work, assign tasks, and help the team complete quality work on time
• Keep clear notes and tell the manager about site problems, supply needs, and work still needed
• Keep tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas clean and safe; drive between project sites and supply vendors (valid driver’s license required)

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in farming, gardening, horticulture, landscape maintenance, or a related field
• Strong experience maintaining edible gardens and landscapes
• Knowledge of ornamental, native, and edible plants, fruit trees, and common pest and plant health issues
• Experience troubleshooting garden, plant health, and irrigation problems in the field
• Experience leading, training, or providing hands‑off guidance to other team members
• Able to plan and prioritize field work while maintaining a high standard of quality and efficiency
• Friendly and professional when communicating with clients, coworkers, and managers
• Organized, reliable, and able to take initiative and communicate when additional support is needed
• Valid driver’s license & proof of insurance.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Ability to perform manual work, lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
