Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a similar position.
• Valid Alaska driver's license for vehicle type operated.
• Current HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Certification in Asbestos Identification.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical; Hepatitis B vaccination series and Tetanus vaccination required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the central landfill and ensure customer compliance with policies and procedures.
• Answer questions from the public to provide information and resolve complaints.
• Close and open disposal sites; keep disposal areas clean and functional.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Develop and plan special projects; install signs and building barriers.
• Assist with repairs/remodels of transfer site buildings; maintain tools and equipment.
• Monitor automated scale and asbestos disposal per regulations.
• Perform snow removal and maintain division grounds; assist scale house as required.
