Job summary

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of related experience, and a valid Alaska driver’s license for the operated vehicle.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a similar position to understand basic duties.
• Must have a valid Alaska driver's license for the vehicle type operated.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.

Responsibilities

• Assists with repairs and installs street signs.
• May operate a steam boiler to thaw frozen culverts and prevent glaciations and flooding; repairs and replaces culverts.
• Conducts road striping operations.
• Operates pumps to alleviate flooding conditions.
• Operates brushing equipment; removes trees and tree limbs from roadways.
• May operate street sweeping equipment.
• Operates snow removal and plowing equipment.
• Assists with repairs of asphalt and gravel surfaces.
• Installs traffic control devices and flags traffic at worksites.
• Transports tools, equipment and supplies to work sites.
• Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs related duties.
