Job summary

New York City Department of Sanitation is seeking a Construction Project Manager to support landfill sites under its purview. The role focuses on managing consultant contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance for post-closure care, and coordinating environmental monitoring and site maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science background, with strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience in NYC procurement

Qualifications

• Five years of full-time experience managing construction projects with minimum total cost of $300,000 each year.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/construction-related field preferred.
• Must have a valid New York driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage consultant contracts for landfill post-closure care plans and regulatory compliance.
• Perform landfill site inspections for regulatory compliance.
• Oversee Environmental Monitoring Plan activities (surface water, groundwater, drainage, etc.).
• Oversee mowing and trimming at landfill sites.
• Assist with composting and resource recovery project oversight.
• Lead contract procurement including RFP preparation and cost estimates.
