Job summary

WM is seeking an experienced environmental manager to oversee post-closure activities for multiple landfills. You will coordinate monitoring programs, regulatory reporting, and consultant services while ensuring permit compliance.

The role is 70% office and 30% field, with travel to sites in Northern Illinois; Milwaukee, WI-based candidates are welcome. Responsibilities include budgeting, contract oversight, site inspections, and liaison work with regulators, property owners, and stakeholders to

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience.
• Ability to travel 20% with overnight stays.
• Preferred: Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering/Geology or related field.
• Experience in landfill operations or environmental regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of landfill permitting, post-closure care, groundwater monitoring, landfill gas systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage post-closure environmental monitoring and permits.
• Coordinate consultants, contractors, and regulatory reporting.
• Travel to sites within Northern Illinois; 70% office and 30% field.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Develop and manage budgets and project reviews.
• Oversee safety and ensure site compliance.

Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree
