Job summary

City of Grand Prairie seeks a Foreman to supervise work projects and crews at the Landfill/Solid Waste Facility. You will oversee staff, ensure timely completion of tasks, and handle administrative duties while addressing citizen inquiries.

The role requires education as described, five years of operations maintenance experience, and relevant licenses/certifications. You will manage safety, equipment, materials, and contractor activities to meet regulatory and city standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High school Diploma, GED or equivalent plus 6 months of advanced training or study.
• Experience: Five years operations maintenance experience. Experience in environmental monitoring at a solid waste facility preferred.
• Licenses: Texas class A CDL must be obtained within 180 days; Texas Class B CDL, Municipal Solid Waste Class A License, EPA Freon Removal/Freon Recovery Certification.
• Certifications Required: EPA Freon Removal License within 30 days; MSW A License within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff and work crews by assigning work duties; prioritizing work activities; observing and monitoring tasks; conducting performance evaluations; approving leave requests; providing training; conducting staff meetings; providing advice or assistance.
• Coordinates and schedules contractors and activities; monitors field operations; inspects work; ensures equipment is maintained; enforces safety and environmental requirements; ensures materials are supplied; investigates citizen complaints and assists with problem resolution.
• Manages administrative duties by requisitioning supplies; preparing budget documentation; developing equipment and material specifications and bids; recording service requests; compiling reports for management and regulators; handling emails and calls; coordinating payments to contractors; addressing citizen inquiries.
• Sets up and organizes departmental events; monitors infrastructure projects; maintains facility operations; administers Human Resource policies.
