Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at our recycling center, landfill or transfer station. You will perform pre- and post-operation inspections, monitor waste, and maintain equipment to minimize downtime while adhering to all safety policies.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and preferably experience in the solid waste industry; OSHA-regulated site experience is a plus.

Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed safely and efficiently.
Ability to adhere to work schedules and follow through on challenges as they arise.
Promotes the Company safety standards and follows policies.

Responsibilities

Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment per policy.
Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment (forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader).
Monitor waste to identify unacceptable materials.
Monitor equipment condition to minimize downtime and perform minor servicing.
Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor.
Follow all safety policies and keep shop clean and organized at shift end.
Other duties as assigned.
