Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate at recycling centers, landfills or transfer stations, performing loading, spreading, covering and compacting waste or soil with a focus on efficiency and safety.

You will inspect equipment daily, run forklifts and heavy machines, report repairs, follow safety policies, maintain a tidy shop, and support a team dedicated to reliable, compliant waste handling.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer services skills and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment per policy.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure operational readiness to minimize downtime.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, organized shop after each shift.
• Perform minor equipment servicing and assist Maintenance for repairs.
