Job summary

Republic Services in Lawrenceville, VA, seeks an Experienced Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate equipment at the recycling center, landfill or transfer station. Responsibilities include pre/post inspections, equipment operation, waste monitoring, routine maintenance and accurate reporting.

Two years of heavy equipment experience and one year in OSHA-regulated sites are required. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and teamwork within a regulated facility environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure equipment is ready for use.
• Perform minor maintenance and document issues; escalate major repairs.
• Keep the shop clean and report required repairs to supervision.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
