Job summary

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is seeking a skilled equipment operator to support landfill operations. The role involves operating and maintaining heavy equipment such as bulldozers, compactors, track-hoes, and loaders to transfer, load, spread, compact, and cover waste.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist with leachate control, erosion mat placement, and recycling sorting, while adhering to environmental regulations and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of landfill operation principles and county procedures.
• Experience operating heavy landfill equipment.
• Ability to operate and maintain landfill equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment for transferring, loading, spreading, compacting and covering waste at county landfill sites.
• Operate a bulldozer, compactor, track-hoe, front-end loader, dump truck, and skid steer.
• Maintain landfill by placing erosion mats, litter control, and hydro-seeding operations.
• Disassemble and reassemble scales for quarterly calibration.
• Maintain the pit pump and survey for leachate control.
• Sort tires and metals for recycling.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment.
