Job summary

Carroll County Government is seeking a Landfill Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy, medium, and light equipment at the Northern Landfill. You will grade and compact waste, load materials, and perform routine maintenance while documenting daily activities.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, 1+ years of related experience (or equivalent), and CDL with Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months. Overtime and shift work are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One or more years of related experience or an equivalent education/experience substitution is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy, medium, and light equipment and CDL and non-CDL vehicles.
• Grade and compact solid waste at the landfill disposal cell; place and grade soil cover.
• Operate rubber tire loader to move scrap metal, tires, brush, mulch, stone, dirt, and other materials.
• Perform general light maintenance on vehicles, equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
• Load and haul landfill leachate and septage for disposal at local treatment plants.
• Complete routine paperwork such as time sheets and reports.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
