Job summary

The University of Minnesota Landcare Supervisor within Facilities Management oversees landscape maintenance crews across the Twin Cities Campus, leading Teamster staff and student employees. You will coordinate snow removal, irrigation, and grounds projects while ensuring safety, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

This role requires strong supervisory skills, experience in union environments, and proficiency with Office and GIS tools.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in horticulture, urban forestry, or related field plus at least five years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least nine years.
• Five years of experience in commercial grounds maintenance and snow removal or combination of related education and work experience to equal at least nine years
• Two years of supervisory experience (preferably in a unionized setting)

Responsibilities

• Oversee crews of full-time Teamster staff and student employees across the Twin Cities Campus. Coordinate landscape maintenance and construction activities and manage program work with peer supervisors.
• Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training for frontline staff and student employees. Set goals and inspect quality.
• Administer budget, procurements, timecards, and regulatory compliance. Plan tasks and review safety training.
• Build and maintain positive customer relations; ensure SLA goals and serve as point of contact for campus customers.
• Prepare cost estimates for labour, materials and equipment and coordinate vendor support for specialized tasks.
