Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III for its Land Development group in Newport News, VA. In this on-site role, you will contribute to design, analysis, and field activities within a diverse civil engineering practice.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with 2–10 years of land development experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. EIT is preferred, and you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• 2–10 years of land development civil engineering experience including residential, commercial, mixed-use and public land development.
• EIT preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must.

Responsibilities

• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and Civil 3D technology.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers to solve problems.
• Prepare specifications materials through research and catalogs to specify materials, installation and inspection.
• Work to complete design details and plan sets.
• Perform research and write objective summary reports used in project work or inspection.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior staff.
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior staff.
