Job summary

U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Justice's Paternity and Child Support Division is seeking a PCSD LAN/WAN Technician under MIS supervision to maintain PBX, IVR, telecommunications, and WWW presence for the unit.

This role ensures proper operation, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates maintenance. The position requires strong networking knowledge, data backups, and security management, with responsibilities spanning deployment, monitoring, and user support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related field supplemented by four (4) years of related experience.
• Associates degree in Computer Science or a closely related field supplemented by six years of experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in the US Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

• Backs up network data.
• Configures security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
• Analyzes and reports computer network security breaches or attempted breaches.
• Identifies the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
• Documents network support activities.
• Configures WAN or LAN routers or related equipment.
• Installs network software, including security or firewall software.
• Troubleshoots network or connectivity problems for users or user groups.
• Provides telephone support related to networking or connectivity issues.
• Evaluates LAN/WAN performance data to ensure availability or speed.
• Analyzes network data to determine usage, disk space, or server function.
• Performs routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking components.
• Configures and defines parameters for installation or testing of LAN/WAN equipment.
• Performs other related duties as required.
