Job summary

Dragonfly Pond Works in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a hands-on Outdoor Technician to join our fast-growing environmental team. This full-time role focuses on lake and pond management, pest/herbicide control, and stormwater maintenance, with year-round work and opportunities for career growth.

You must have or be willing to obtain an Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License within 30 days, hold a valid driver's license, and be able to lift 80 pounds.

Qualifications

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Experience in lake and pond management or pest/herbicide control preferred.
• Familiarity with fisheries, wildlife management, ecology or environmental sciences helpful.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and lift 80 pounds.
• Excellent communication and math skills for product applications.
• Mechanical inclination; occasional travel may be required.
• Team-oriented and aligned with Dragonfly's values.

Responsibilities

• Identify and treat invasive weeds.
• Visual inspection of stormwater components.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pond fountains and related equipment.
• Mow and trim sites.
• Improve overall site aesthetics.
• Perform minor repairs for compliance.
• Implement safety training for field staff.
• Handle administrative duties.

Pay

$18- $22 an hour- Full-time

Requirements

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain a license within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in lake and pond management, pest/herbicide control or surveying is preferred.
• Experience in the following disciplines are desirable: fisheries, wildlife management, conservation, ecology, biology, environmental sciences or forestry.
• Electrical work experience preferred, but not required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Able to swim and comfortable around water.
• Ability to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Great communication skills.
• Basic math skills to calculate product applications.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Occasional travel may be required.
