Job summary

Dragonfly Pond Works is hiring for an outdoor role in Virginia Beach, VA. The job offers year-round, full-time work with opportunities to grow into management positions. A valid aquatic pesticide license or ability to obtain one within 30 days is required, along with strong communication and physical stamina.

Responsibilities include invasive weed control, stormwater inspections, equipment maintenance, site aesthetics, and safety training. Benefits include health, 401(k), PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Experience in lake/pond management or pest/herbicide control preferred.
• Experience in fisheries, wildlife management, ecology, biology, environmental sciences or forestry preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Able to swim and be comfortable around water.
• Able to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Great communication skills.
• Basic math skills to calculate product applications.
• Mechanical inclined.
• Occasional travel may be required.

• Identify and treat invasive weeds.
• Visual inspection of stormwater components.
• Perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on pond fountains and related equipment.
• Mowing/string trimming sites.
• Improving the overall aesthetics of the sites.
• Minor repairs for compliance.
• Implement safety training for field staff.
• Handle administrative duties.

Pay: $18- $22 an hour- Full-time

Requirements

• Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License or be able to obtain a license within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in lake and pond management, pest/herbicide control or surveying is preferred.
• Experience in the following disciplines are desirable: fisheries, wildlife management, conservation, ecology, biology, environmental sciences or forestry.
• Electrical work experience preferred, but not required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Able to swim and comfortable around water.
• Ability to lift 80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Great communication skills.
• Basic math skills to calculate product applications.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Occasional travel may be required.
